Call to Order at 7:01 p.m.

Other Business

Jan motioned to approve the minutes from the September 26^th meeting, Jim seconded.  Passed 7-0. 

Requests for building permits:

Building permit – 6 Meta Ln.

Detached Garage. 

Jim motioned to approve the permit.  Shannon Seconded.  Passed 7-0.

Building permit – 123 Cooperwyck

Deck on house

Lori motioned to approve.  Jan seconded. Passed 7-0

Open Forum

Discussion continued on the revamping of the ordinances with a focus on the idea of having a “Sketch Plan” where the applicant would visit with the planning and zoning committee prior to having official plans created.  During this meeting the applicant could discuss the rough idea of what will be applied for and can work with P&Z to develop a plan that fits within the ideal for New Melle and meets the needs of the applicant.

Much of this discussion centered on the problem of when to ask for/require the submission of this type of sketch plan.  It seems unreasonable when the permit is for something “minor”, such as the deck that was approved tonight, but perhaps for a larger development such as a subdivision this would be more appropriate.  This raises the question of where to draw the line.

We also talked with Jerry Wolf and informed him that he can proceed with the plans to erect storage sheds as per the approved permit based on the old ordinances.   

Diane motioned to adjourn at 7:54.  Shannon seconded.  Motion passed 7-0.
