                           Planning and Zoning Commission and Public Hearing

PUBLIC HEARING

Call to Order at 7:00pm    Present Barry Shortt, Darla Green, Jan Muskopf, Maggie Petersen, Wally Karase, Roger Brink

PUBLIC HEARING - Rezoning request application submitted by Roger Karrenbrock for property located at 4481 Hwy Z. Represented by Kurt Daniels, Cochran Engineering.

REVIEW OF APPLICATION - Mr. Daniels described what Mr. Karrenbrocks tentative plans were for the property at 4481 Hwy Z. Requesting that portion of site that is currently zoned C3 be rezoned I1.

PUBLIC COMMENT- Below are comments from those in attendance:

1)Tim Miller - Would cause a problem with development of the city if allowed to rezone to I1

2)Ken Birk - Moved to New Melle for the rural atmosphere; property values would be affected; plan is not in    line with New Melle goals. Gave typed notes to board.

3)Shirley Kramer - non-resident, property adjoins 4481 HwyZ; concerned about watershed worsening; could    limit development of her property in the future.

4)Mr. Peterson - Does not want increased amount of development of industrial properties.

5)Larry Enyart - States he opposes the development.

6)Rick Robb - Concerned that allowing rezoning to I1 will allow other properties to be more easily rezoned to Industrial in the future.

7)Gary Kramer - Feels rezoning will open door to future industrial companies; feels it would do long-term damage to community.

8)Roger Karrenbrock - States he just wants to keep his business in the town he grew up in; expressed his intention of making it a very nice looking business.

9)Tim Miller - Asked if Mr. Karrenbrock could have what he wants and also protect the community.

OPEN FORUM

     Blair Feed & Grain Property - Mr. Glen Straatmann, prospective buyer of property, introduced himself and discussed his intentions and hopes of continuing operation of Blair's as a feed store.
